# DogFocus Privacy Policy Last updated: October 21, 2026 Effective date: the date first shown in the App at release Welcome to DogFocus (the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy explains how we handle personal information and how you can manage it. Please read it before using the App. ## 1. Information we process and why DogFocus is a focus timer with a virtual companion-pet growth experience. You do not need to create an account to use its core features unless a feature says otherwise. We follow a data-minimisation approach. ### 2.1 Information stored on your device by default To provide timers, growth, insights, timeline history, Pet Coin rewards, and preferences, the App stores the following locally on your device: - focus sessions, including start and end time, duration, selected tag, and completion status; - companion-pet data, including selected pet, name, breed, growth stage, time together, and unlock status; - preferences, including Pomodoro and stopwatch settings, ambient-sound mixes, notifications, and focus-mode settings; and - Pet Coin balances and earning/spending activity; and - medal awards, award dates, viewed status and painting arrangement preferences. This information is not uploaded to our servers by default. You may delete individual records or selections in the App, or remove local data by uninstalling the App. This release does not provide the “Focus Screen Drops” feature. It has no selection entry point and does not generate, collect, upload, or share any selection, usage, or animation data for that feature. If an earlier version saved a local choice, the App resets it to show no falling effect. ### 2.3 Optional iCloud sync All users may opt into iCloud Sync in Settings free of charge, without Pro. When enabled, the App uses your Apple Account’s private CloudKit database to sync focus records, pet data, paintings and painting arrangements, Pet Coin records, tags, timers, preferences across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. The data is stored in Apple’s private iCloud container and is accessible only to your Apple Account. - You may turn sync off at any time. Future changes will stop uploading, but existing iCloud copies are not automatically deleted. - To request deletion of synced copies or exercise other data rights, contact us as described below. When using the Apple Watch app, timer state and completed sessions awaiting sync are stored on the watch and transferred to the paired iPhone using Apple Watch Connectivity. The pending queue is cleared after storage is acknowledged. iPad receives records through your optional iCloud Sync. Watch sync does not read health data or upload focus records to our servers. ### 2.4 Paintings and Pet Coins Paintings are calculated from qualifying focus and related app activity on your device. They are free to earn and keep without an app account or Pro. Cross-device medal and arrangement sync is free and requires your opt-in to iCloud Sync. Turning sync off or Pro expiring does not delete local awards. Pet Coins are in-app virtual rewards with a balance and activity ledger, not money or financial accounts. This release does not provide redemption codes or code-issued Pro access. ### 2.5 App Store purchases Pro subscriptions, one-time purchases, and purchase restoration are handled through Apple StoreKit and the App Store. We do not collect or store your card number, Apple Account password, or full payment details. We process the product identifier, StoreKit transaction identifier and entitlement state needed to unlock and restore purchases. Apple’s own privacy policy applies to information Apple processes. ### 2.6 Notifications, sharing, and feedback - **Notifications:** with system permission, your device schedules focus-completion, periodic focus and Deep Focus return alerts. From version 1.1.2, allowing system notifications also enables occasional return reminders by default. When the app detects that notification permission is allowed, we register a random installation ID, a credential hash, Apple push token, app version, notification permission, language, time zone and last foreground activity with our service. These support occasional reminders after time away (initially 3/7 days; configurable). We retain delivery results and notification-tap times to prevent duplicates and measure results. Focus tags, memory text and other-app usage are not uploaded for this purpose. Use Notifications in app settings to open system settings and turn notifications off at any time. The system stops displaying them; the server preference syncs the next time you open the app online. Clearing local app data requests deletion of the device registration; offline requests retry when connected. This record is not linked to your Apple ID or synced through iCloud. System notification permission can also be revoked at any time. - **System sharing:** when you choose to share, the App opens the iOS share sheet. Content you confirm for sharing is then handled by the third-party destination you choose. - **Feedback survey:** opening the feedback survey takes you to a Feishu third-party page. Information you voluntarily submit there is governed by that service’s policy. ### 2.7 Information we do not actively collect Apart from what is necessary for the features above, the App does not actively request or process precise location, contacts, microphone data, health data, SMS, camera feed, or cross-app tracking information. We do not use targeted-advertising or behavioural-tracking SDKs. If this changes, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure before enabling the new processing and seek consent where required. ## 3. Sharing and disclosure We do not sell personal information. We share only the information needed in the following cases: - Apple App Store / StoreKit: transaction and entitlement status needed to complete, verify, or restore purchases. - Apple CloudKit private container: optional focus records, pet data, paintings and painting arrangements, Pet Coin records, tags, timers, preferences, so the same Apple Account can sync App data between devices. - Cloudflare Workers / D1: necessary network delivery and deletion of historical voluntary ranking/redemption records. New ranking enrolment, public ranking queries and redemption-code processing have been retired. - A third-party sharing destination or Feishu survey service: content you actively choose to send or submit. We do not publicly disclose personal information unless required by law, necessary to perform a legal duty, or separately authorised by you. If personal information is transferred because of a merger, division, dissolution, or bankruptcy, we will require the receiving party to remain bound by this policy or obtain your consent again. ## 4. Storage and security We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the risk to protect information from unauthorised access, use, alteration, loss, or disclosure. No internet environment is completely secure; please protect your device, its unlock method, and your Apple Account. We retain information only for the shortest period necessary for the purposes described here, unless law requires otherwise. If a personal-information security incident occurs or may occur, we will take remedial measures and provide notice when required by applicable law. ## 5. Children The App is intended for people with the legal capacity to use it. If you are under 14, use it with a guardian’s consent and guidance. A guardian who believes a minor provided information without permission may contact us using the details above. ## 6. Your rights Subject to applicable law, you may request to know about, access, copy, correct, supplement, delete, restrict processing of, or withdraw consent for your personal information. You may also opt out of optional features. - Edit or delete focus records in the App. - Turn notifications off in Settings. - Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or to make a complaint. We may reasonably verify identity to protect your data. We will handle requests within the period required by law, or explain the reason and available remedies if we cannot comply. ## 7. Updates to this policy If our features, processing purposes, methods, categories of information, retention periods, recipients, or the way you exercise rights materially change, we will update this policy through a prompt, Settings notice, or another prominent method. Where consent is required, we will obtain it before the new processing starts. ## 8. Network services and optional participation Cloudflare serves public pages and assets. Network requests and necessary technical logs may be processed outside your country. The public leaderboard and redemption-code services have been retired. Historical D1 records from earlier voluntary use may contain a random installation identifier, pet identifier, display name, breed, aggregate companion time or redemption activity. Necessary deletion paths remain available; contact us to request deletion. The current app does not upload pet photos, paintings or full focus history to a public ranking service. Optional sync uses private Apple CloudKit. When you enable a focus mode requiring permission, Apple Screen Time / Family Controls / Device Activity provides the system capability. App-selection tokens and necessary permission/session state remain on the device or its App Group and are not uploaded to the ranking server. We do not read other apps’ content. Redemption-code processing is no longer provided in this release.
